Minister and Deacons

Jon has been Minister of Higham Way since October 2012 he is passionate about seeing people live a life which shows others Jesus and helping people understand Gods calling for them wherever they are. Jon grew up in Maidenhead in south east England where he attended church from a early age. His call to Baptist Ministry started just after his Baptism age 13 and grew throughout his teenage years which lead to him undertaking a gap year with BMS World Mission in Uganda aged 18 when he left school to test the calling further. After another year working as pastoral assistant and several short-term 'secular' work placements, including being a teaching assistant and Santa (amongst other things), Jon was accepted to train for Baptist Ministry at South Wales Baptist College in Cardiff. Jon enjoys rock climbing (to his surprise) a good read, playing football and is a avid Arsenal Fan and is married to Hannah who also attends the church.

We currently have 5 Deacons who serve the church alongside our Minister:

Alison - Church Secretary
Mark - Treasurer
Elaine - Mission Deacon
Cat - Children and Youth Deacon
Val - Discipleship and Pastoral Care Deacon

Although the Minister and Deacons are called by the church to exercise leadership final authority on major decisions lies with the Church Meeting in accordance to the principles of the Baptist Union of Great Britain to which be belong.
